Mansion Cat / 2023

This artwork titled “Mansion Cat” shows a spoiled, lazy cat resting in a chair unbothered by its surroundings. The cat, who already knows its owners will feed, care for it and get away with most consequences, is like a boss of itself and has everything it needs. Unlike humans, who can only reach their goals by working hard and being determined. This artwork aims to show that you can achieve anything, even if you start with nothing. It’s about taking a step forward every time you achieve something, starting with ourselves.

As the saying goes, “I can and I will.” Using acrylic and markers, I created this artwork in an illustrative manner to show more attitude coming from the cat. Right in the centre is where the cat is, seemingly to command people from where it’s sitting. Surrounding the cat are all man made objects, like lamps, pillows or books, further exaggerating the differences between man and animal. I experimented with different paint brushes to find the right textures for each item in the room and mixed colours carefully to get the shades to stand out.
