The Flow of Nature / 2023
In this piece, the focus is on the play with lines, shapes and space to recreate nature in a nontraditional way. Even with shapes like ovals and circles, it is possible to create a “flow”. By drawing more freestyle and less structurally it illustrates the water flowing seamlessly and blending with stones and earth. As the layers progress, a different pattern takes form. I drew it this way to show the various elements we find in nature, for example plants, grass, different terrain or caves.
There’s a play in negative and positive spaces to also break up the already crowded artwork. It gives the artwork a break while also allowing the audience to look at it more comfortably. The positioning of all the different elements are also important as we can differentiate the subject we are looking at.
