Wash Cherries / 2022

This drawing shows a close-up view of several cherries in vibrant red colours. Titled “Washed Cherries”, it’s a representation that their smooth surface reflects even more after washing. The objective of using colour pencils as the medium is to create a more realistic surface. I observed that the richness in their red colour reflects light easily. I decided on a dark background to make their contrast even more outstanding, doing that also brings out their green stems more. The final touch would be the droplets, showing that it is freshly washed and ready to be consumed.

Colours are important in our lives, which can uplift our mood and give us a sense of joy. The cherries remind us of sweetness and kindness, encouraging us to help each other, as the saying goes, “Kindness is doing what you can, where you are, with what you have.”
